The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park
The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park (see a Map) includes about 720 square miles of some of the best scenery and wildlife in Scotland. It boasts 20 Munros (mountains over 3000 ft), 22 large lochs and 50 rivers and streams. In the west, Ben Lomond towers over its namesake, Loch Lomond - the largest expanse of freshwater in the uk. The east side of the park around Callander and The Trossachs is a joy for those who enjoy the peace and scenery of smaller lochs, forests and rivers. The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park stretches from Loch Ard in the west across to Loch Lubnaig in the east and offers a fantastic variety of walks and cycleways. Within the National Park you can enjoy walking, cycling, abseiling, fishing, pony trekking and rock-climbing. The West Highland Way - a long distance footpath cuts through the park on its way to Fort William.

Loch Lomond, the surrounding area and places to visit.
Loch Lomond's west shore road (A82) to Crianlarich passes Luss, Tarbet, Inveruglas Ardlui. The road from Drymen follows the east shore to Balmaha and Rowardennan. Lock Lomond's eastern shore's sheltered bays makes it popular for watersport enthusiasts. The South end of the loch is very popular with water sports enthusiasts (and shoppers at the LL Shores complex). The northern end of the loch is more mountainous and scenic.
The Trossachs - Scotland
Between Aberfoyle and Callander lies the Trossachs. This is probably the best loved part of the National Park and offers fishing, boating, steamer excursions, cycling and walking. It has attractions for all age groups and interests and it's probably safe to say 'something for everyone'. Aberfoyle accommodation offers a base handy for a visit to the remoter parts of the Trossachs.
Callander
Often refered to as the 'Heart of the Park', this is the largest centre for accommodation, shops and services, pubs, restaurants. It is the eastern gateway to the park and easily accessed via Stirling and the A84. Many see Callander as a place to stop on the way north, but in reality this historic and lovely little town is a holiday centre in its own right with a host of local attractions and activities.
