Things to do
The Cycleway to GlenDochart and Killin via Strathyre passes close to
the farm where we have secure parking/storage facilities for bicycles,
motor cycles and small trailers.
The farm is located in lovely countryside for those who like to explore on foot. Close
by are the famous Bracklinn Falls which are mentioned in Queen Victoria's Scottish diaries
and a gentle walk to the falls takes the walker past the Auchenlaich long barrow
(prehistoric burial place) and an early (Pictish?) hill fort high above the Keltie Burn. A
slightly longer walk takes you onto the beautiful Callander Crags from which splendid
views can be had far away over the Trossachs hills to Ben Lomond in the west.
Ben Ledi, Ben A'an and Ben Venue just a few of the popular mountains in easy driving
distance of Auchenlaich
For those who like to explore, Auchenlaich makes a great base from which to explore The
Trossachs and further afield to Loch Lomond, Strathearn and Breadalbane, all with a
wealth of scenery, history, ruined castles and legends.
Stirling with it's Old Town, historic buildings and of course Stirling Castle is only
15 miles away. Edinburgh and Glasgow are only 45 minutes away, and if you don't want the
city traffic, trains run to both destinations from Stirling railway station about
half hourly. |
