Old Scottish Postcards of the Trossachs

Collector's photos from Valentines and other postcards

From the early days of rail travel, the Trossachs was a favourite holiday location for visitors of all classes, very few of whom had the resources to take theit own photographs of the beautiful scenery of the are.A few did own cameras, some were artistic enough to do their own sketches or paintings of the many beauty spots. Most had to do what many still do - and buy photographs which were taken professionally (and sometimes not so professionally) specifically for the holiday postcard industry.

Probably the best known of the 'Holiday Postcard' companies was Valentines who produced neat little packs of small picture cards which are often found on offer on the likes of Ebay. The photos on this page were taken from old postcards donated by visitors who have used this website to plan their holidays and these danations are credited where appropriate.

Please enjoy the images for their nostalgia and historic value.
