Image of the village of Aberfoyle in the National Park

Aberfoyle is a small village to the west of the Duke's Pass in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. There is a good choice of accommodation in Aberfoyle and the surrounding villages. The highland boundary fault lies just to the north-east of Aberfoyle and this has helped to create the craggy scenery which brings visitors to the area. Some of the best known highland lochs are within easy reach of Aberfoyle with Loch Lomond, Loch Ard, Loch Katrine, Loch Venachar and Loch Lubnaig all within about 30 minutes drive of the village. Scotland's only 'Lake', the Lake of Menteith' is just 15 minutes away by car.

Aberfoyle festivals are becoming quite famous and now attract large numbers of visitors. 'Tramping through the Trossachs' and the Autumn 'mushroom festival' are probably the best known.

The Scottish woollen mill at the centre of Aberfoyle hosts the famous 'quack commandos' where a sheepdog team round-up ducks instead of sheep!

Many historic characters are associated with Aberfoyle. These include Rob Roy Macgregor, William Wallace and Mary, Queen of Scots.

A pleasant day trip from Aberfoyle is the drive via loch Ard and Strathard past loch chon and Loch Arklet to Inversnaid on Loch Lomond and Stronachlachar on Loch Katrine.

The David Marshall Lodge visitor Centre above Aberfoyle on the Duke's pass makes a pleasant day out where you can walk, view waterfalls, see the Ospreys and swing through the trees at the 'Go-pe' experience.
