About Burnt Inn HouseThe building dates back to the 1850s and used to be the coach house and stable for a hotel called the Trossachs New Hotel which burnt down in 1864. John Millais and John Ruskin visited the hotel in 1853 and the Prince and Princess of Wales also visited in August 1864. During the 20th century the coach house and stable have been a post office, a petrol station, a garage and taxi service, and more recently a private house. The house is situated in the centre of the small, quiet village of Brig o Turk, standing in two acres and there are views of Ben Venue and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. The Trossachs is one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, with mountains and lochs, the towns of Callander and Aberfoyle and, in the midst of it all, the village of Brig o Turk. The three lochs, Venachar, Achray and Katrine, and the three mountains, Ben A an, Ben Ledi and Ben Venue, make up the area called The Trossachs. Sir Walter Scott made The Trossachs famous with his poem the Lady of the Lake (Loch Katrine). Millais and Ruskin stayed in the village of Brig o Turk for four months in 1853. William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy came to visit. Last but not least Queen Victoria and members of her family also visited the village. The Trossachs has everything you look for in a holiday a relaxing break, sightseeing, historic buildings or an energetic few days walking, cycling fishing golfing or pony trekking. Many people find that they just keep coming back time and again! DIRECTIONS:- 7 miles west of Callander on the A821. As you approach Brig o Turk from Callander, drive past the first road on the left and we are the stone built house immediately on the left hand side.
