Loch
Drunkie - 3 lochs.
About 9.5 miles round trip from Dukes pass
Start: Forest Car park A821 1.2 miles south of Loch Achray Hotel
Distance: 9.5 miles
Surface: Forest track, mostly pleasant but one or two short rough
stretches. A couple of pushes!
BEWARE - part of this route is shared by
cars using a forest trail!!!
Park in the parking area about 100 yds off the A821. Take the track leading downhill
roughly parallel to the A821 and follow along the side of Loch Achray taking note of the
gothic looking 'Tigh Mor Trossach' timeshare on the north side of the loch. Keep to the
lochside until forced to leave the loch as the track nears a farmhouse.
Just before the farmhouse, turn right and follow this through mature forest until at a
barrier on a level stretch, a fork leads off uphill to the right. Take this right fork and
follow to a parking area (with toilets) where a map will show the way to loch Drunkie.
On reaching Loch Drunkie, follow the track south then west to go round the end of
Loch Drunkie.
Eventually, leave Loch Drunkie heading west again to pass close to Lochan Reoidhte
before reaching a viewpoint with seats. Take a breather here and look at the view over the
Trossachs and beyond to the north.
Now continue a couple of hundred yards to the A821 with its traffic, and follow
downhill to the carpark where you started.
