The Location
Stronvar is situated on the southern shore of Loch Voil in historic and scenic
Balquhidder Glen in the mountains of central Scotland. From the main Stirling to
Oban road (A84) a beautiful ten minute drive brings you to the Kirkton of
Balquhidder, burial place of the famous highland 'outlaw', Rob Roy MacGregor.

The historic mansion sleeps 12-14 in grand and spacious
self-catering vacation rental accommodation . Good touring base convenient for Edinburgh,
Glasgow and 30 Golf Courses. A family and friends gathering and holiday place.
In the drawing room you find a bar and "Pianola" player piano
with music rolls. Views over the garden and mountains are beyond description. There is
ample comfortable seating.
Entering the house from the main front entrance, you find the entrance
hall and inner hall decorated with tartan drapes over the staircases. Antiques,
memorabilia and curios are displayed in glass cases on the walls.
A comprehensive up to date information file is always kept in the house together with
games and jigsaws.

Out and about
Dotted around this area of fabulous scenery you'll discover:
Castles, Historic Houses and battle sites, museums, visitor centres, whisky distilleries
and excellent restaurants.
30 Golf Courses lie within area for a days golf. Pony trekking and
Watersports are available locally. Walking and hillwalking is available for all levels of
fitness and within a radius of 10 mile or so there are several well known 'Munroes'
(mountains over 3000feet). Trout, Salmon, char and pike fishing is available within a
short distance with trout in Loch voil just 50 yards from the front door.
Theatre and cinema and major shopping can be found in Stirling (30 miles).
Local Scottish Country Dancing September to March. Ceilidhs at New Year, with live
Scottish entertainment to be found in many of the local bars.
There are many pubs with excellent beer in local villages.
Glasgow and Edinburgh are easiliy accessible by trains from Stirling, the
service running about every half hour at peak periods. There is no public transport
from Stronvar so cars are essential.
Local Village shops (Strathyre and Lochearnhead both with post offices)
are excellent for all general groceries (and local gossip and advice!). Callander, 12
miles away, has a supermarket.
Churches:
Balquhidder is Presbyterian, Lochearnhead is Episcopalian and there is also a Roman
Catholic in Callander; all are very welcoming.
Indoor Sport:
Sports centre with swimming pool at Callander. Tennis in Strathyre. Full details in the

Our Prices:
From 1st April to end September, our price for up to 12-14 people is £1,650 per week,
which includes hot water, electricity and all linens. During the winter months there is an
additional £300 heating charge.
