Callander to Strathyre Railway Route
The Callander to Crianlarich Railway was closed in 1965 and the old track
bed has been used to create this gently sloping route. On the way you pass Ben Ledi and
cycle along the shore of beautiful Loch Lubnaig, rising briefly into the forest before the
decent into bonnie Strathyre. You can also continue for 5K along a quiet single
track road to Balquhidder, the burial place of Rob Roy Macgregor.
The route cab be extended by taking the road
east from Balquhidder to join the old rail track bed for an extended trip up to GlenOgle.
Callander, Brig o' Turk and loch Katrine
This quiet and scenic route takes you westwards along the shore of Loch Venachar and onward to the small village of Brig o' Turk. From there you can choose from several routes along Loch Achray, into Achray foresr, further on to Loch Katrine or up into Glen Finglas.
